NIKE 6.0: Lowers Pro

The Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro in conjunction with the Oakley Pro Junior is an ASP Men’s Prime / 5 star Pro Junior event that boasts a filed of 96 international professional surfers who will compete for a part of the impressive 250,000 prize purse and the Association of Surfing Professionals rating points.  Enticed by the opportunity to surf perfect Lower Trestles – one of the most high performance wave on Southern California coast – with only three other surfers out, the Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro is a must on the calendars of some of the worlds best competitors.  In addition, with a recent transition to the ASP One Ranking System, 96 surfers in this prime event will have even more at stake going into the events on the ASP Prime schedule that has played a critical role in defining the path that future greats would walk down. 

AoSA was brought on by the 6.0 Lowers Pro Team to create signage for their highly anticipated event.  35 banners were commissioned for this project that varied in sizes, small, medium and up to 35 feet tall.  Nike had originally commissioned Vinyl as their material choice and then switched to printing on wood, and fabric made from 100% post consumer water bottles.   All of the signage was printed with water based inks making it safe for the people working around the dyes as the water based inks lets off steam while UV lets off ozone. 

HOW THE CHANGE WAS MADE

AoSA was able to educate the 6.0 Lowers Pro production team on sustainable and green processes.  The switch from Vinyl to wood, 100% post consumer water bottle fabric and water based ink gave the opportunity for a second life cycle for the material.  In the spirit of reuse and recycle. AoSA is always happy to create a new life cycle for any products we produce.
