WOODSMITHE: Active Workshop

WoodSmithe started in 2008 out of a desire to regain things that have long been lost. Responding to the modern day consumerism that our culture is overwhelmed with, WoodSmithe wanted to do things different. We wanted to create a company that bridged the gap between artists and consumers, a product that had a story behind it worth telling, and a process that turned other peoples trash into works of art again. WoodSmithe is a part of a growing voice who are calling out to revolutionize what we call retail- to show that it can be done differently: domestically, renewably, and ascetically fresh.

AoSA and WoodSmithe partnered on this project in conjunction with Active Ride Shop.  Active in the process of launching a new pilot store called The Workshop.  The new endeavor was designed to be “a space where your hands, your voice and your actions come together to create positive change in communities across the globe.”  The whole shop was made from scrap pallet wood and built off site and installed in one day at the Santa Monica location by the WoodSmithe team.  AoSA printed all signage for the store that included instillations from Toms Shoes, Krochet Kids, Falling Whistles, and Obey Awareness.  All prints were done on cotton and aluminum and printed with water-based inks. 

HOW THE CHANGE WAS MADE

The Workshop is a space dedicated to educating shoppers, sharing the rich stories of each organization, encouraging bigger and broad community change and creating a deliberate perspective that is both challenging and empowering.  As WoodSmithe seeks to partner with several forward thinking non-profits and companies who want to use renewable resources and plan thoughtfully the partnership with AoSA was an obvious one.  WoodSmithe and AoSA will continue to partner, seeking to open many doors with brands who are eager to step into the rapidly-growing trend of using renewable material and help “green” companies as they progress thru their journeys.
