OBEY CLOTHING: Sustainable Canvas

This job ran from June 4th to the 29th of 2008 and consisted of 200 custom fabricated gallery stretched canvases. The end use of this product is innovative instore displays for Obey clothing.

This product was made from 100% local resources; fabric from post consumer waterbottles manufactured in the US, stretcher bars from fast growth Oregon pine, printing with water based dyes, and all fabrication within 50 miles of the obey clothing headquarters.

Built into this display solution is a reclamation and reuse system in which, if Obey clothing receives a canvas back, AoSA will reuse the frame and remanufacture the fabric into an accessory

THE STORY: How the change was made

Chris Broders and the entire obey clothing team wanted a low cost giclee style stretched canvases that would showcase Shepherd Fairy's installed street art for in store display. AoSA answered the call and presented the idea of a locally made option consisting of old waterbottle fabric at a comparable cost to classical methods of photographic representation. Obey clothing team showed their care for a sustainable solution by picking AoSA's offering out of other less green options.
